Danny Phantom, The Show:
geeky kid gets super powers from his parents' weird inventions! now he has to fight a rogue gallery of ghosts... but uh-oh! he still has to keep his grades up, deal with his embarrassing parents, and navigate girl troubles! rap theme song!
Danny Phantom, the Fandom, After 19 Years of Fermentation:
a child dies. but not quite. the inherent tension between life and death. the obsession of the dead for faded remnants of the living. warped green shadows on the walls of a dark laboratory. having to hide your true nature from those who should be your greatest allies. the fear of the monster you could become if you let yourself. being a ghost as a metaphor for the trans experience. a cold breath on the back of your neck in the dead of the night. rap theme song!

yes, doctors suck, but also "the medical ethics and patient interaction training doctors receive reinforces ableism" and "the hyper competitive medical school application process roots out the poor, the disabled, and those who would diversify the field" and "anti-establishment sentiment gets applications rejected and promotions requests denied, weeding out the doctors on our side" and "the gruesome nature of the job and the complete lack of mental health support for medical practitioners breeds apathy towards patients" and "insurance companies often define treatment solely on a cost-analysis basis" and "doctors take on such overwhelming student loan debt they have no choice but to pursue high paying jobs at the expense of their morals" are all also true
none of this absolves doctors of the truly horrendous things they say and do to patients, but it's important to acknowledge that rather than every doctor being coincidentally a bad person, there is something specific about this field and career path that gives rise to such high prevalence of ableist attitudes
and I WILL elaborate happily

I have said again and again that the United States of America has one of the worst propaganda programs I have ever seen
the worst part is that it works perfectly
#this has nothing to do with the citizens of the country#its just that the government is built on a primarily flawed fondation#its power is built on the idea (or more realistically the promise) of freedom and opportunity#so anything that goes against this idea can be used as propaganda material#and we mean everything#because in a international world you can not have free reign over everything by one country#like all healthy relationships you sometimes have to compromise or support eachother#this sometimes means you will have to give up your resources or make diplomatic decisions that arent always in your favor.#but whenever something that is “unfair” or “a risk to our nation” which can range from a balloon to a flipping war#they can just touch on the nerve that is freedom and make people believe or atleast think they believe in them long enough#to justify the countries actions#its such a horrible way of using propaganda and its honestly easily broken down IF the USA wasent a global super power#i dont know why i needed to talk about this but i had too#there are people who justify the Isreal attack on gaza and Palestinians by calling it a defensive response#and the idea is unfathomable#genocide? as a defense response?#are they hearing themselves? is what my immediate reaction was#but its deeper then that#its more then that#its so#so much more then that#its a foundational belief within the nation that some people cant pull themselves out of because how could they?#its like trying to unlearn everything your parents thought you that you later learn is horrible#for some its easy#for most its hard#but for some its impossible#thats the same with systematic life long propaganda like this#patriotic citizens are plentiful in any country but the thing that makes america so distinct is that their patriotism is so deeply rooted#the word of the motherland is golden to some and you cant just reverse that#i wish them well and i wish palestine the best.

Does DogDay have romantic feelings for your sona or is it more platonic? The way you draw him I wouldnt mind if it was the first- 👀
(theyre not a sona, just a standard y/n insert. im not much of a self shipper. the y/ns are their own characters in a way)
and as far as feelings go…
Tumblr media
there’s affection on both sides...but perhaps something more from our favorite dog.

A detail I love about Episode 4, is the symbol that appears in the music ball Charles finds and the meaning it has when it comes to his own story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The relief in the ball, is a lyre, Orpheus' symbol. It was the musical instrument that he received as a gift from the god Apollo, who was considered his father in some versions of the original myth.
Note: In The Sandman Universe, Morpheus and the Muse Calliope are Orpheus' parents.
CHARLES: I found one of those at a maritime museum once. The Case of the Drowned Diver, wasn't it, Edwin? Superstitious sailors would use them to calm the seas.
Orpheus was well known as a talented musician; his music could intrigue people's minds with supernatural ideas and had the power to broaden their thinking to new and unusual theories.
When he joined the expedition of the Argonauts, he saved them from the Sirens' music by playing his own, more powerful and beautiful melodies. Later, it was also his music that allowed Jason to accomplish the purpose of his journey.
It makes sense that sailors used his symbol on an object designed to calm the seas and guarantee their safety while navigating.
When it comes to Charles, in particular, the way he ends up using the music ball (in the absence of a more technical name for that object) is both literal and metaphorical.
On one hand, he uses the music ball to put Angie, a sea monster, to sleep, thereby solving the case of The Lighthouse Leapers. On the other hand, he uses the instrument to save Edwin and himself from The Night Nurse—not just by literally pushing her into Angie's mouth with the ball in her hands, but by causing her to meet Kashina. This meeting prompts her to remember Kashi's words later, when Charles tried to save Edwin from returning to hell by pointing out it was a mistake, and again when he asked her to open a portal to hell so he could bring Edwin back.
In Orpheus' story, when Eurydice died from a snakebite, he charmed the ferryman Charon and Cerberus, the guardians of the River Styx, by playing the lyre and singing. By doing so, he also softened the hearts of Hades and Persephone, which gave him the chance to bring Eurydice back to the world of the living.
It's curious that the lyre symbolizes the power of persuasion for Orpheus, as this is a quality in which Charles takes great pride (he is indeed very convincing). Still, I hope that's where the coincidences end.
That's all for now. To everyone who knows about Orpheus' myth and the different versions of his story, I apologize for not quoting specific authors here.

every time someone reduces CAPTAIN !!! elizabeth "lizzie" lafayette down to "a sad lesbian" a fairy dies bc i shoot it with my gun. like you're telling me you were spoon-fed a character that has one of the most realistic and RAW representations of grief and perseverance in the series and all you got from that was "she's sad" ????
is she a constantly happy character? Fuck no! that's acknowledged!! but to take EVERYTHING that she is, which has positive and negative aspects THAT ARE BOTH SHOWN, to take the fact that she is THE DRIVING FORCE OF THE MAIN BACKGROUND PLOT, and reduce her down to NOTHING but her relationships?? ?what the hell!!!

You make one kinda weird post that gets more than 10k notes, and for months, sometimes years afterwards you get the most boring people in the world in your inbox begging for a Slumdog Millionaire style explanation for every single word you used because there's no possible way you could just be a kinda funny person who's says kinda funny things while typing on your phone and not looking at the oncoming traffic
